Protect Your Body during Workouts

Workout injuries can be prevented with proper body conditioning. A quality fitness program is designed to safely train areas in your body to achieve fitness goals. At the same time, training is executed in a manner that prevents common injuries like sprains and muscle strain.

Before beginning a new exercise program, consult your physician. And remember: Muscles need time to recover from physical activity. Go at your own pace.

Know Your Limitations

Be mindful when exercising. Monitor how your body feels when performing a specific activity. Avoid doing routines that cause pain in weak areas. For safety’s sake, do not strain, and build strength gradually. If you push your body beyond its limit, you risk injury. Give yourself time. When your body is in better shape, you’ll sense that you can increase the challenge.

Take it Slow

If you haven’t trained in years, recognize that your flexibility has likely diminished. By taking your time you will get stronger and have increased mobility without hurting yourself. Avoid too much intensity in those early workouts.

Get Professional Advice

It helps to work with a certified trainer so your exercises are suited specifically to your body’s needs and limitations. With an expert’s supervision you can do exercises that range from moderate to vigorous but nothing should be too intense for your body.

A personal gym training program appropriate for your body type will stipulate how many sets and reps to do, the type of free weights and machines to use, and establish periods for recovery (e.g. alternating days when you do upper body and lower body workouts).

Switch it up

Vary your routine instead of focusing on one activity for long periods. Repeating muscle movements may lead to soreness. When you alternate your workout between mild and intensive training, you minimize the use of the same muscle strands, giving them time to recover.

Be aware of how your body feels. If you are feeling sore, give yourself time to rest for a faster recovery. An excellent way to prevent injury and restore flexibility to sore muscles is through sports therapy. Get started today to achieve optimal performance.
